Marvel Phase 4 is upon us. Doctor Strange follows Dr. Stephen Strange from his less than humble beginnings as a super cocky and extremely arrogant star surgeon. He hand picks his patients and only chooses top cases that he considers a "sure thing" so that he can not tarnish his perfect surgical record.
This all changes after he is in a horrible car accident which takes the strength of his hands away. The good doctor can no longer be a surgeon. Dr. Strange uses all of his resources and money to attempt to fix his hands and his career but is unsuccessful. Dr. Christine Palmer, an on again/off again ex-girlfriend, tries to be there for him but Dr. Strange quickly chases her off with his self pity and destructive behavior.
Dr. Strange's life begins to take a turn when he meets Jonathan Pangborn. Jonathan is he one who tells Strange about Kamar-Taj, the home of the Ancient One who teaches Dr. Strange about the mystic arts.
For those worried that I am just going to rehash the entire movie I this post and talk only about spoilers, don't worry. I am not looking to give away anything else. I want to dive directly into opinion now.
I have seen Doctor Strange twice at this point and honestly I would like to go again. I truly enjoyed his film for everything that it was. Each character is equally important as the next and the story is very well written. Doctor Strange has an Iron Man feel to it as it feels like a beginning as opposed to a continuation. Please do not misunderstand that statement as this film is very much a continuation of the MCU which is evident during the first of the two after credit scenes featuring a special guest appearance of another well known MCU character. Benedict Cumberbatch reminds me a lot of Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark in this film. After you see it, I believe you would agree.
It's been a long time since I have had so much fun in a movie theater. If you are not a comic book fan or a superhero movie fan, I urge you to please give this movie a shot. I feel that it is a movie for anyone and that you would enjoy the ride.
