Last week after seeing Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them when I decided to grab a quick lunch before heading home. I actually wanted to just eat real quickly and I began to walk towards the food court. Then I saw Little Buddha. I have seen this restaurant a few times when traveling to the Palisades Mall in West Nyack, New York. I stopped to look at their display menu (you know the large menu that a restaurant keeps outside). I liked what it had on it and they had pictures of some of the dishes on it too. The picture of the BBQ Rib appetizer won me over. I looked up to get a view inside the restaurant and saw that at 12:30 in the afternoon, they were completely empty. Of course this worried me especially since the mall was full. I wondered why this nice looking Asian Bistro would be empty and that fact only made me more curious. I sat at the bar and the nice hostess (who was also the bartender) took my order and checked on me throughout my visit. I just want to point out at this point that my service was very good. She did a great job getting me what I wanted as you will find out later.
If you follow my Instagram (@feastandfandom) you have already seen this picture. Kirin Ichiban is always a beer that I order whenever I see it on a menu. It tastes great. Here's a few fun facts. It's brewed in Los Angeles, CA by Anheuser Busch. Kirin actually is on site managing each step in the brewing process to ensure the beer is made to their specifications.
These are the BBQ Ribs that I was referring earlier. Now there is a story behind this. See as I looked at the menu I became confused that I could not find the ribs on the menu. I thought to myself why would they promote an item on their display menu outside, but not offer it in the actual menu. I asked my host/bartender why I couldn't find them and she had no idea what I was talking about. She did not know about the dish. She asked me where I had seen them. I liked this because she really wanted to make sure I received what I wanted. I loved this behavior from her. I can't tell you how many times a server had just said "no" and did not do the digging to really find out about something for a guest. She won me over just by actually looking concerned and wanting to find an answer. We walked outside together and I showed her the display menu. She apologized that she did not realize about the error in the diner menu. She told me that she would talk to the manager and try to get them for me. When she came back to me, she told me that they had started an order for me and I was very happy because DAMN where I good. The ribs were beautifully cooked with and sweet BBQ sauce on them. My server told me that due to a printing error, they were not on the menu. I suggested black boarding the ribs because Little Buddha would benefit from having them on the menu. They were that good.
Above is the Shrimp Pad Thai. I would recommend this to anyone who likes noodle dishes. It features shrimp, fettuccine type rice noodles, mushrooms, sprouts, carrots and bok choy. Beware the dish is spicy but very tasty.
I was happy to see that Little Buddha had a few extra guests by the time I left. They gave me a great experience and I would recommend to anyone to go for a nice and enjoyable meal.
