Hello all! I know it’s been a while and hopefully you have all not forgotten about me here at Feast & Fandom. I’ve been busy with my book writing and working hard at furthering my career. I have also been spending as much time with my family as humanly possible. With that said, Feast & Fandom has suffered and I do apologize for that. I love this forum as a place to speak about my opinions on restaurants, movies and products. I figured what better way to bounce Feast& Fandom back from oblivion would be to write a post along the lines of our original post,a product review
Trader Joe's has a wide array of delicious organics but you would be surprised what you can find in their frozen food section. I have walked past the Linguine with Clam Sauce more times than I could count and I have always had a great deal of hesitance when looking at the bag of this particular entree. I would always pick it up and try to think if this dish would be any good. Now if you have read past posts you would know that I am a huge fan of clams and pasta. But could a dish such as this actually be good?
To my surprise, it was not bad. No really. I ate the entire dish. Granted, I personally feel that I can make a better Linguine with Clam Sauce than most restaurants and I often do. Nothing replaces the smell of fresh garlic and white wine simmering with freshly steamed open clams. My mouth is watering just thinking of it. But honestly if you are in a bind for time and want a pretty decent meal for $2.99, Trader Joe's actually does not disappoint. The linguine itself is not overcooked or mushy like I thought that it would be. The clams are actual real clams that did taste fine. If I were to change one thing it would be during the reheating method. Instead of two table spoons of water, I would steam it with two table spoons of white cooking wine. It was also extremely easy to reheat.
Again, decent for what it was. Would I have it again? Maybe. I won't completely rule it out. But with the joy that I get from cooking, I would rather just make it fresh. I give the Trader Joe's Clam Sauce a 3 out of 5 stars. It is definitely worth a try.
