If you have followed my reviews in the past you will find that I like to post about Trader Joe's products. Trader Joe's has earned my trust in their brand many times over and I feel fortunate to have a location just about two blocks from where I live. One night recently while stopping at Trader Joe's on my way home from work I stumbled across this powder while looking for another seasoning. I for one love truffles but sadly do not get to experience them as much as I would like. Purchasing the truffle powder seemed like a no brainer to me.
I finally had a chance to cook with it tonight. Even though the bottle says that it is the perfect seasoning that can be added to everything, I wanted to make sure that I planned this first experience with it responsibly. I chose that my bottle of Trader Joe's Black Garlic would be a nice accompaniment and used these ingredients with salmon, capers, tomatoes, shallots, white garlic and a very special bourbon called "Good Fucking Bourbon" made by a wonderful company named Good Fucking Brands.
Upon opening the lid I was immediately hit with the powerful and magical aroma of the truffle. It hit my nostrils with the carob and spicy mix of earthy aromatics that made my mouth salivate right away. I wished that I had more of this seasoning because I knew how much I would appreciate it without even tasting it.
I rubbed some of the seasoning onto my salmon while I began to cook my white garlic, black garlic and shallots in olive oil. The truffle powder coated salmon immediately improved the delicious smell that filled my kitchen once it hit the oil in my saute pan. Heaven was no longer an idea, it was my kitchen. After a few minutes I deglazed my pan with the bourbon only to add the tomatoes and capers. I turned the burner down to medium/low and let the meal flourish into a masterpiece.
Trader Joe's Truffle Powder Seasoning lives by it's promise. It is a wonderful seasoning that can be added to everything. I plan on becoming more adventurous with it in the coming days. Even now after eating the giant bowl of salmon and pasta you see pictured above, I am planning my next meal to use it with. Head over to your local Trader Joe's and pick up as many bottles as you can. It will be more than worth it. Enjoy!
